Into Thin Air: Archetypal Response

Archetype refers to the typical story or setting that shows the universal human nature. It usually has a hero and a villain. When looking from an archetypal perspective, the book is perceived humans climbing the mountain as heroes as it shows the world how humans can achieve anything if they try. While mount Everest is shown as the villain of the story as it takes many people’s lives and prevent them from reaching their goal.

On the other hand, humans could be perceived as the villain of the story because of how people’s greed to reach the top of Everest has violated the mountain through pollution and has also killed many people.
